1/15/2026Specialisation in the degree programme Computer Science Computer science and medical informatics in one degree programme At TU Braunschweig, the study of Medical Informatics is embedded in the degree programme Computer Science. By choosing a major and minor subject, you can already focus on the field of medical informatics during your Bachelor’s programme. This way, you will acquire full qualification in medical informatics. It is possible to have the field of study “Medical Informatics” entered on your degree certificate and thus present yourself as a specialist. As a specialist in medical informatics, you work at the interface between healthcare and information technology. For example, you will ensure that the various facilities in a healthcare system can communicate smoothly, you will simulate surgical interventions or develop imaging methods for diagnosis. In order to be able to solve these complex tasks, you will acquire a broad knowledge base and a wide range of skills during your studies: Not only are you an expert in the development and operation of sophisticated IT solutions, but you also have the medical and organisational know-how that enables you to communicate with medical professionals and look at software solutions from an overall organisational perspective.

General Requirement: Most of the courses offered at TU Braunschweig are taught in German. Therefore, when applying for a German-language degree programme, you must submit one of the following German language certificates by the application deadline: TestDaF with at least 4 points in each section of the test telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule DSH 2 Sprachdiplom of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Stufe II) C2-Zertifikat of the Goethe Institute Feststellungsprüfung of the Studienkolleg For non-restricted degree programmes, you only need to prove that you are attending at least a German course at level B2 at the time of application. For enrolment, you must submit one of the above-mentioned German language certificates. Unfortunately, enrolment is not possible without this language certificate!
