7/15/2026The double major Bachelor’s degree If you want to study Mathematics , please choose it as your first or second major within the double major Bachelor’s degree programme. For those with a technical interest in the subject, there is also a special Bachelor of Science Mathematics . There are four study objectives within the double major Bachelor’s degree. You can choose the following study objectives for Mathematics: subject-specific study goal Teacher Training Course: Gymnasien The double major Bachelor’s degree programme consists of two sub-programmes (first and second major) and an area of specialisation plus internships and/or school placements as well as a final module. In addition, there are courses in educational sciences and educational psychology when studying for a double major Bachelor’s degree in a teacher training course. The Bachelor’s thesis is written in the final module. If the double major Bachelor’s degree is studied with the aim of becoming a teacher at a Gymnasium, 90 credits are earned in the first major and 45 credits in the second major. In educational sciences and educational psychology 6 credits are acquired. The area of specialisation (12 credits) includes courses with interdisciplinary and action-oriented components to help you develop cross-disciplinary and practical professional competences. 12 credits are earned by completing school placements. The final module includes writing the Bachelor’s thesis (15 credits). If the double major Bachelor’s degree is studied with a subject-specific goal (no teacher training course), 90 credits are earned in the first major and 45 credits in the second major. The area of specialisation (18 credits) includes courses with interdisciplinary and action-oriented components to help you develop cross-disciplinary and practical professional competences. The internships (12 credits) are completed on a subject-related basis (not at a school!). The final module includes writing the Bachelor’s thesis (15 credits). Study contents Mathematics (selection; depending on the choice of the major as first or second major to varying extents) analysis linear algebra mathematical modelling, differential equations introduction to stochastics, statistical methods introduction to mathematical optimisation and numerical analysis didactics, geometry (teacher training course) Possibilities of combination In principle, Mathematics can be combined with all other majors of the double major Bachelor’s degree. However, some combinations are recommended or are only possible to a limited extent, depending on the desired degree. If you are aiming for the teaching profession at Gymnasien, please consult the regulations governing the combination of different subjects. If you are looking for a combination not mentioned here, we strongly recommend that you consult with the programme coordinator for the double major Bachelor’s degree.

General Requirement: Most of the courses offered at TU Braunschweig are taught in German. Therefore, when applying for a German-language degree programme, you must submit one of the following German language certificates by the application deadline: TestDaF with at least 4 points in each section of the test telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule DSH 2 Sprachdiplom of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Stufe II) C2-Zertifikat of the Goethe Institute Feststellungsprüfung of the Studienkolleg For non-restricted degree programmes, you only need to prove that you are attending at least a German course at level B2 at the time of application. For enrolment, you must submit one of the above-mentioned German language certificates. Unfortunately, enrolment is not possible without this language certificate!
