7/15/2026If you want to study Educational Sciences, please choose it as your major or minor within the two-subject Bachelor’s degree programme. There are four study objectives within the two-subject Bachelor’s degree. You can choose the following study objective for Educational Sciences: subject-specific study goal The two-subject Bachelor’s degree programme consists of two sub-programmes (major and minor) and an area of specialisation plus internships and/or school placements as well as a final module. In addition, there are courses in educational sciences and educational psychology when studying for a two-subject Bachelor’s degree in a teacher training course. The Bachelor’s thesis is written in the final module. If the two-subject Bachelor’s degree is studied with a subject-specific goal (no teacher training course), 90 credits are earned in the major and 45 credits in the minor. The area of specialisation (18 credits) includes courses with interdisciplinary and action-oriented components to help you develop cross-disciplinary and practical professional competences. The internships (12 credits) are completed on a subject-related basis (not at a school!). The final module includes writing the Bachelor’s thesis (15 credits). Study contents At TU Braunschweig you can either study Educational Sciences on its own (Bachelor’s degree) or combine it with another subject in a two-subject Bachelor’s degree. This is a good idea, for example, if you have a special academic interest in the subjects you want to combine or would like to acquire a specific qualification to prepare you for your future career. In your specialised studies, you will discuss basic pedagogical questions, theories of upbringing and socialisation and educational theories, but you will also get to know pedagogical practice. Your studies have a practical orientation, with seminars in the form of workshops and a high proportion of practical training. Many teaching and learning methods are not only taught, but learned. You will try out many different methods yourself. Study contents Educational Sciences (selection; depending on the choice of the subject as major or minor to varying extents) introduction to educational sciences educational acting and professions in pedagogy research methods communication, counselling and educational acting in organisations Important note: In the two-subject Bachelor’s degree with Educational Sciences as major or minor, the compulsory minor of the single major Bachelor’s degree in Educational Sciences “Educational Sciences in the Context of Other Social Sciences” (Educational Psychology and Sociology) is omitted. Possibilities of combination Educational Sciences cannot be studied at TU Braunschweig with the aim of becoming a teacher. For a subject-specific degree, the following subjects are recommended for combination with Educational Sciences: English Studies (proof of language proficiency) German Studies History Art History and Aesthetics (HBK) If an individual goal is set, combinations other than those recommended are possible. Consultation is strongly recommended. As a major, Educational Sciences can be combined with all subjects of the two-subject Bachelor’s degree.
