3/1/2026The program starts on October 1st each year and is organized as a two-year course (four semesters). It includes two semesters of lectures and practical courses plus two semesters focusing on work in a research team (Project Work) and to the preparation of a Master’s thesis. The “Master of Science” degree will be awarded upon successful completion. Language of the program is English. All exams are offered optionally in English or German, upon the student’s individual case-by-case choice.

The course is aimed at you as a Bachelor's graduate in engineering, physics, chemistry or, of course, materials science. You should have basic knowledge in the field of materials science, but above all curiosity about exciting materials topics that we will present to you and to which we will lead you. Your Bachelor's degree was not in materials science? No problem - the vast majority of your fellow students are the same situation. We have structured the curriculum specifically to meet your needs and look forward to welcoming you as a student. Your native language is German? Welcome to our International Masters program! In our experience, a German university entrance qualification such as Abitur or a German bachelor degree provide you with sufficient immersion to English language contexts for a successful participation in our courses. Throughout this Masters program, all exams can be taken in either language, English or German, upon the student's individual choice.
