7/16/2026The study program in Civil and Environmental Engineering focuses on basic education. The focus is on both the methodological and theoretical foundations of civil and environmental engineering. At the beginning of the program, mathematical and scientific subjects predominate and the first basics are taught, for example, in building materials science and construction theory. In the fourth semester, students choose one of the specializations "Civil Engineering", "Water and Environment" or "Transport and Mobility", depending on their preferences. In the master's program, this specialization can then be further expanded consecutively. In addition to the specialization, students can also choose from our non-technical courses (6 LP), which include language courses, for example. The bachelor's thesis as the first scientific work is carried out in the specialization in cooperation with research projects and practice partners. The TU Hamburg also has numerous Erasmus-Plus partnerships with European partner universities and supports studying abroad.
