9/15/2025The master's in Applied Artificial Intelligence is a two-year program (eight quarters) that covers the theoretical aspects of AI with an emphasis on concrete applications in industry, services, health, and education. The master's is embedded in the matrix of postgraduate offerings of UDS and provides opportunities for advanced interdisciplinary work. Students take nine required and six elective courses, working in teams to solve complex real-world problems, many of which will be proposed by our industry partners. The program covers the most important aspects of symbolic AI, subsymbolic AI (neural networks and deep learning), advanced logic systems, language models, coding of complex systems, and related technologies and applications.Artificial Intelligence is now present in virtually every field, and professionals who can master its theory and applications are in high demand. AI applications now rely on massive libraries of code that UDS students are exposed to from the start. At the same time, students learn to develop their own coding libraries so that they do not become impenetrable black boxes. The interpretability of AI systems is one of the main aspects of this master's program. Students also learn to ponder the ethical and security implications of AI from the very beginning of a project. The German UDS welcomes students with a bachelor’s degree in STEM fields and all backgrounds to this master’s program. We expect our students to be interested in participating in high-tech projects. Students learn to work in teams, enhancing their contributions and creativity. The program teaches how big AI projects are being conducted in the world today.
